The best way to learn a PLC is to program one.
UniLogic Fundamentals is a two-day, hands-on course at our shop in Holland, Ohio. You start by installing UniLogic, the software behind Unitronics UniStream PLCs. You finish with a working application you built yourself, on real hardware.
We are a Unitronics distributor, and we program these controllers for our own customers. This course is how we teach it.
What you’ll build
Day 1 is the foundation. You’ll install UniLogic, get to know the UniStream hardware and its I/O and HMI options, and start editing ladder logic and HMI screens. Then you’ll work through timers and counters and pull it all together in a mini project.
Day 2 gets into some intermediate programming: analog I/O, alarms, temperature control, trends, and data tables. We close with an introduction to industrial communication protocols, including EtherNet/IP, Modbus, and IO-Link.
Nearly every topic has a lab, so you’ll spend more time programming than listening. Each day ends with open Q&A. Bring the questions you’ve been saving from the plant floor.
Plan to attend both days. Day 2 builds directly on Day 1.
Who it’s for
Engineers, technicians, and machine builders. Some people come in new to Unitronics. Others already use UniStream and want to fill in the gaps.
You don’t need any Unitronics experience. You don’t even need to have programmed a PLC before. By the end of the course, you’ll be comfortable working in UniLogic and ready to put it to use the next day.
Your instructor
The course is taught by Alex Foulke, lead controls engineer at AMPS. Alex programs UniStream controllers for our customers and hosts our free https://ampsic.com/resources/video-library/. If you want a preview of how he teaches, start there.
Take the hardware home
The full course option includes a training kit that’s yours to keep: a fully featured 5″ UniStream HMI+PLC, model US5-B10-TA30. It’s the same controller you’ll use in class. When you get back to work, you keep building on it instead of starting from scratch.
Not ready to buy a kit? Loaner equipment is available on request. You can also bring your own PLC. Just send us the model information before class.
