Unitronics introduces the Vision 1040 (V1040)

10.4″ Color Touch-Screen with built-in PLC

We are very excited about the soon-to-be-released V1040 for a number of reasons. First, we’ve had customers clamoring for a larger screen from Unitronics for years. Second, we’ve longed for a high-resolution product from them for just as long. Third, it’s hard to find a PC with a serial port these days so USB connectivity is essential. Now, we’ve got all three in one product!

AMPS was the first North American company to tell you about the V560 a couple weeks ago and now it looks like we’re among the first to pass on information about this new product. Actually, we’ve known about this for several months but were sworn to secrecy until Unitronics had a chance to introduce it at the PackExpo International 2010 conference in Chicago earlier this month.

We do not yet have pricing information but here’s what we do know:

  • Operates on 12 or 24 VDC
  • LCD (TFT) display with white LED backlight
  • 800 x 600 (SVGA) resolution
  • 10.4? viewing area
  • 16-bit color (65,536 colors)
  • Includes 9 programmable function keys
  • Integrated SD card
  • 2 isolated serial ports (RS232/485)
  • USB connectivity
  • 1 CANbus port
  • I/O via Snap-in modules or expansion modules
  • IP65 / NEMA4X from front panel

Of course, all the other normal Unitronics Vision specifications apply. It programs with VisiLogic, which is available as a free download. Programming cable is included with each purchase. All the normal communications options are available. Email, SMS, web server capabilities are all there.

The V1040 is scheduled for release in December, 2010. AMPS will have them in stock right away and will begin using them as the backbone for control system design immediately. We already have plans to integrate them into the machine controls for a new 1.5 barrel craft brewing system. There should be no reason we can’t begin to build electrical control panels with the V1040 right away.
